Eliza Collins & David Weissberger

We enjoy the process, not just the product, and hope you appreciate the care and thought that went into each item we make.

Flying Turtle Designs is a creative collaboration between Eliza and David. They live by Lake Champlain and work together on the design and manufacture of a wide variety of carefully crafted goods. Though they only recently combined their talents to form Flying Turtle, they had each been crafting for years before they met in 2001 at the John C. Campbell Folk School in North Carolina.

Eliza learned at an early age sewing, knitting, spinning, and other fabric arts from her mother. She went on to study studio art at Middlebury College.

David has a masters degree in architecture from Virginia Tech and a propensity for designing and building tools, furniture and birdhouses in the garage.

Both partners continue to enjoy individual and collaborative artistic exploration which led to the founding of their shared business. All of the books, bags, jewelry, cards, and accessories that you see were designed by the two of them and manufactured (in the true sense of the word), right here in Burlington.
