What drives me to make furniture is the feeling of satisfaction and capability I get from producing a beautiful and complex object from rough amorphous materials.

Entirely self-taught, Richard Haver became interested in woodworking while building a cedar strip canoe. Finding the Shaker style so prevalent in New England to be limiting, he departs from that style by using vivid veneers and fluid, shapely forms.
