Tom Lennon

I draw my inspiration from the French Impressionists who were so important to me as a student (Monet, Sisley, Hassam, etc.). Their focus in the effects of light and the creation of color vibrancy through the juxtaposition of complimentary colors are a constant influence on my work.

Tom Lennon received a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Pratt Institute and began a career as an illustrator in New York City. After a few years of this, however, he realized that a regular source of income would be far more suitable if he wanted to raise a family. At that point, he began a thirty-year career as an Art Director.

This job allowed Tom to hone his skills in drawing, sketching and composition. He received over 320 awards in national and international competitions, served two terms as President of the Society of Publication Designers and was a Guest Lecturer at numerous art schools (including Pratt, Parsons, FIT and Syracuse).

However, the need to paint never left Tom. He eventually retired to Vermont and returned to his first creative love as a landscape painter.
