Burlington, VT - Frog Hollow’s upcoming show Emergence (Coming to Light), a series of new monotypes by Carol MacDonald, transports the viewer to an altered world where the familiar is turned slightly upside down. Created in the aftermath of the pandemic the pieces interact with each other to exemplify the multifaceted nature of this abstract dreamscape and the struggle to understand a modified world. The finished works demonstrate an amalgamation of additive and subtractive processes. The ghost of a vibrant form in one piece appears in a fainter capacity in another. Another work features stitches sewn into the final print. The body of work interacts with itself to show the viewer an almost recognizable image that then disappears behind a veil of other information. The show will run through the month of September.
