LANDMARKS - the Original Watercolors
By Kevin Ruelle
September 29th - October 28th
Burlington, VT - Starting September 29th, Frog Hollow Craft Gallery will be showing a series of original watercolors by the artist Kevin Ruelle, for his show: Landmarks - The Original Watercolors.
Over the past 30 years, Kevin Ruelle has created a series of vintage-inspired travel posters–nostalgic not only in theme but also in their creation. Influenced by the Art Deco period, Ruelle uses traditional airbrush and watercolor techniques to express his vision. “Landmarks” highlights Ruelle’s original large format paintings, showcasing his distinctive process and love for travel.
Watercolor is difficult to adjust once the paper has been stained by the wet pigment. Extensive planning, color studies and sketching in the field are significant parts of Ruelle’s process. Maintaining highlights and tones requires a rooted awareness of light and composition.
Kevin Ruelle has over 40 years of experience as a commercial artist creating technical illustrations, book covers, book illustrations, packaging art, architectural renderings, illustrated maps, cartooning and decorative art. He now works exclusively in watercolor and oil, charcoal and airbrush. Kevin Ruelle’s studio is located in West Bolton, Vermont, and he continues to participate in shows throughout the state.
