Drawing and painting since childhood, Deborah has been making her living as an artist for over thirty years, and she continues to paint every day in her studio. Deborah graduated from Vassar College, where she studied history and fine art. She began painting full-time after teaching at a boarding school in northern New Hampshire for several years. Deborah has been exhibiting at Frog Hollow Gallery in Burlington since it opened on Church Street.

The rural landscape of the Champlain Valley and the Northeast Kingdom is her inspiration, and she feels fortunate to live in the beautiful state of Vermont. She tries to capture the essence of a place in her paintings using farms, flowers, buildings, animals and water. When it is warm enough she paints on location to experience the light, the smells, and the color. Deborah paints on 140 lb. Arches Hot Press Watercolor paper, which is very smooth and allows for fine detail. She uses Winsor-Newton Watercolors and a blend of sable and synthetic brushes.

In Vermont, Deborah lives in the heart of Bristol where she has her studio and at home gallery. She can look out her kitchen window and see Deer Leap Mountain, walk to the New Haven River and to her favorite coffee shop. When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her four grown sons, Cameron, Andrew, Sam and Lewis, her grandsons Miles and Olen, and with good friends. Deborah loves to swim in clear water, go to museums, read, canoe, hike, cook, garden, live music and travel to warm places in the winter. She also loves spending time at her off-grid tiny house in Craftsbury when she has the time.
