IVY LONG

BENNINGTON, VERMONT

Ivy grew up fascinated by the beautiful fabrics, trims, and beads in her mother's textile art and millinery studio, and learned to sew, knit, and embroider at an early age. Soon jewelry overtook all of her other creative interests, and she went on to apprentice with and work for several jewelry designers while still in her teens. Her passion for lace was sparked in her early twenties when she came across a book of reproductions of Renaissance Venetian needle lace patterns. Captivated, Ivy began experimenting with threads to create intricate lace motifs, designing her own patterns and eventually combining her love of needle arts with her jewelry-making expertise. The feminine and timeless character of lace lent itself perfectly to bridal designs.
