Kevin started turning spindles for staircases he was building in New England in the 70s’. Time to explore, he moved to Hawaii in the 80s’ and continued to build and turn Hawaiian woods and raise a family. Having access to many new Hawaiian hard woods like Koa, Mango, Kamani, Milo, has been a great experience.

All wood is turned wet, air dried for at least a year, kiln dried to stabilize the wood before final turning and finishing. With a bit of an obsession and a plan, he started to gather and rough turn these forms.

He is now finishing these turnings. Some of these woods are no longer available. All of this wood is from the stumps of logging operations and trees brought down from storms from many years ago. Moving back to Vermont after 37 years in the Hawaiian Islands and finishing these turnings, he feels he has come full circle.
