SARAH ASHE

MIDDLEBURY, VERMONT

Sarah paints, makes sculptures and of late is a member of the Feral Stitchers (four women who make stitched fiber art). Over twenty years ago in a workshop on making Nogouchi-style Akari lanterns, she learned to make paper lights using basket weaving reed and Japanese and Thai papers. Uninterested in creating the same form repeatedly, her work is always free form. Pods, seeds, shells, stones, etc. found when walking or gardening, are the inspiration for much of her work. The work process is similar to a meditation, demanding patience and imagination as well as the use of practical lighting considerations.

We have a limited selection for our online store. Please call the gallery to inquire about a specific piece seen in-store.
